Houttuynia cordata 'Flame' werd genoemd naar de nederlandse botanicus Martin Hottuyn, en word in het nederlands ook wel leidsplantje of moerasnemoon genoemd. Het is een bladverliezende kruidachtige plant met een krachtige bodembedekkende vorm en attractieve hartvormige aromatische bladeren die goudgeel zijn met groene en rode accenten. Deze bontbladige moerasanemoon bloeit van juni tot augustus met kleine roomwitte, geurende bloempjes. Houttuynia houdt van een standplaats  in volle zon of schaduw en doet het goed in vrijwel alle grondsoorten. De plant prefereert een vochtige niet té rijke bodem, maar doet het ook op droge grond, waar hij net iets minder gaat woekeren.
